Pass it forward

Today I was able to upgrade and get a new Swiss Army knife. I have been doing research for a few weeks and wanted to get the best one for me I could find. I wanted the saw and the scissors and this was the difficult part. Most don’t come with both unless you get into the swiss champ which is huge and $200.00 (no thank you). I finally narrowed it down and got the huntsman. We were driving home and Kristan asked “can I have the other one”. I immediately handed it over and she got so happy. Little did I know she had always wanted a Swiss Army knife. She has had several knives but said she always wanted a swiss army and appreciated them very much. I was happy to hand it over and know she will be able to use and appreciate very much.

The power of emotion

It is amazing how an emotion can change the dynamic of a picture. Below we have two shots taken within seconds of each other but due to the emotion behind them we have two different end results. Both tell a story but with different outcomes.

First we have an emotion of happy. You would see this one and think that she is having a good day. Maybe she is wanting to be a princess and showing off for the camera.

Next we have a shot taken 5 seconds later and now we see a whole new side. Maybe she is mad at me for telling her to get off the car. Maybe she realized that she is hungry and decided to take her frustration out on me.

Whenever you are looking at the world or taking a photo think about the emotion behind it. What are you trying to achieve with the photo? Emotion plays a huge part in the way we perceive things around us and emotion can drive the entire atmosphere.
