Boy do I love Halloween. The leaves changing, cheesy horror movies from the 80′s that I used to think were super scary and now I laugh at the special effects. This years should be exciting as we are hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner. I have picked out my mask for the evening. It was also great cause Alyssa decided she wanted to be dark and creepy!
So last week I did a post about unplugging from technology and is it something we really need. I did an experiment to see if I needed it. I made it two days before caving and using my phone for all kinds of things. I think if someone is not accustomed to smartphones and what they offer they are fine but anyone else going from a smartphone to a regular one would be unsuccessful. There are so many things good about them (as well as bad). I am going to still try and limit myself from doing hundreds of things in my phone but I will still use it when needed.

Tomorrow iPhone 5 officially goes on sale. This of course means tons of tech blogs talking about anything Apple, iPhone or the carriers it operates off of. Most of the past few days have been regarding AT&T and how FaceTime will not be allowed on unlimited and users must switch to a tiered plan to have FaceTime over cellular. Of course all the comments talk about is how horrible AT&T is for doing this and how everyone will cancel and go to someone else. Personally I could care less. FaceTime has been out since iPhone for and only been accessible over wifi. Do people think they will use this all the time or is it a novelty that will wear off? None the less today the blogs mentioned how Verizon would only allow you to keep unlimited if you paid full retail price for your phone. In the case of iPhone that would be anywhere from $600-$800. Of course the comments now talk about how upset everyone is and how they will cancel and go to AT&T. I laugh because it is the same story just different company. It seems people just want something to complain about. Everyone has to find a reason to be upset and be associated with drama. And to be upset with something like this is just crazy. One of the comments said “how could they limit us when in this day of age we NEED smartphones?” Wait what? We need a smartphone? Last I checked we did not need an iPhone. Only thing we really need is food and water and clothing so we don’t freeze. I say this now however I too have felt I needed my smartphone and could not live without it.
So, with all that said I have decided to go one month smartphone free. On Saturday (start of my new cycle) I will be turning off my cellular data on my phone and it will only be used for phone calls and text messages. Email, Facebook, WordPress, everything will be done on computer. I’m sure this is going to be very hard but I wanna see if I can actually live without all the features of a smartphone. Can one who has had a smartphone for the last 7 years really give up apps, Internet, pandora and whatever else there is? We shall see. I will still take pictures as this will be something I could get on any phone but I will not edit them with apps on my phone. Wish me luck!
This year we finally made it to the balloon festival. We went last year and the wind and weather made it unbearable and they ended up canceling the event. This year was perfect weather. We woke up at 4:15am, made the drive to springs and had a wonderful day. Family time is always the best
Ahhh, the Colorado State Fair. Games, Food and Fun… So much to do and see. I have always seen pictures of the state fair’s and wanted to do some of my own. Yesterday Kristan and I visited the fair and had fun during the day and looked around and shopped. Last night the fair became an amazing scene of colors and shapes. Hope you enjoy

Today I arrived at work and found this on my desk.
It made my entire day. Anytime (and I mean anytime) Alyssa see’s lime green her response is “look daddy, your favorite color” it is so cute. Well today without me knowing Kristan and Alyssa had cookies with my favorite color and Alyssa was adamant that Mommie take it to work for daddy. So these were on my desk. I love them both so much!
